Maika Kobayashi
Maika Kobayashi is a renowned painter and muralist known for her precise, hand-painted acrylic realistic paintings. She began her artistic career with a solo exhibition in New York in 2010. Her work spans murals, stage art, TV drama art, brand collaborations, and providing artwork for music artists.
In 2018, she founded the performance group "Kooya -KOOYA-," blending dance, sound, light, and movement to create multidimensional art beyond traditional canvases. Her performances have been featured internationally, including London's Hyper Japan and France's Japan Expo Paris.
Since 2019, Maika has focused on muralism, initiating the "National Mural Pilgrimage" across Japan and hosting the "Art Can Help You" project in Bangkok, emphasizing Sustainable Development Goals. Her murals in Japan and abroad are celebrated for their community impact. She also develops inclusive art experiences, such as the multisensory workshop "OPAQUE - The Touch of Darkness."
In 2021, Maika moved to Yamagata, continuing public art projects in collaboration with local governments. Her murals have become city assets, reflecting local history and culture, and providing comfort and inspiration to both locals and visitors.
